If there is a difference how do I unlock my iPhone?
Jailbreaking is getting access to unauthorized features
Unlocking is removing the one carrier restriction from the phone.
You unlock by installing ultrasn0w from Cydia.
Unlocking basically makes the phone feature and othe things useable. Jailbreaking gives u Cydia. Which in turn gives you more apps and customizatio.
What Unlocking means is that your iPhone won’t be restricted with the carrier you bought it from. For example let’s say I bought an iPhone 4 from AT&T with the contract the phone would be locked so that I can only use it on AT&T. If I unlock it that means I can use it with T-Mobile or other carriers from around the world!
Jailbreaking gives u Cydia, the rejected app store. Which allows you to download apps that Apple doesn’t approve of. Also you can download Winterboard which gives u cracked apps, it’s illegal so you shouldn’t do it.
To Unlock an iPhone you have to first find out what version of iOS you have on it.to do this follow the following steps:
1. Open Settings
2. Click general
3. Then Click About
4. The 8th thing should say "Version" then right next to it, It will tell you what version it is (for example: 4.2.1)
So now depending on what version you have just go on youtube and type in "How to Unlock ______" and instead ______ put your Version number. so if you had 4.2.1 you would type in "How to Unlock 4.2.1." and just click any of the tutorials it’s pretty easy
