How does the wifi on an unlocked iPhone 4 work?
Does it need to be activated with a service provider? Or can I use the iPhone 4 (out of box) wifi and get online without activation or a SIM card / data plan? In other words, will it be an iTouch until I match it with a service?
Just curious because I want to play around with it before I use it abroad.

When you first use your iPhone, you need a SIM to activate it, then you can use WiFi without a SIM.
This is what a do, I just use it as an iPod Touch.
