iToday?
iToday is an iPhone/iPod Touch application coming out from Today (Singapore’s 2nd most-read English newspaper). The purpose of it: to let people read Today Newspaper on iPhone or iPod Touch. An app just for reading a single newspaper? I thought RSS is what we use for syndicating news content?
For me, it is yet another “CAN DO” application that we will see on AppStore. Today boasts the features of iToday, like offline reading ability and archives which is also possible with many of the RSS reader applications available on AppStore.
Instead of developing a native app, what Today can just do is to add iPhone support to its existing news website. And of course, for offline reading and etc, just enable full content RSS feed instead of going through all the troubles. With iPhone 3G recent release in Singapore and with this iToday app, I forsee a lots of follow-up applications which purposes are to showcase the attitude of “I CAN ALSO DO” instead of really serving the needs of users.
